Trans grief

Updated: Feb 26, 2023

This is a post I made in response to Trans Day of Remembrance and the Club Q shooting happening on the same day: There is so much to say that cannot be fully communicated on this platform. Here is my best attempt from my own human space of grief and emotion.

Text on a background of rain drops.

"It's hard to find the right words to say all the things I'm thinking about grief on today's TDOR. Reading the news doesn't make it any better." A picture of the three of swords tarot card: three swords going through a illustration of a heart.

"Sometimes it feels like it's too much, or there's no end in sight. It can also feel numbing or hard to connect with the feelings." Image of the five of cups tarot card: someone standing with their head down looking at three cups spilled, two cups upright behind them.

"Whatever you are experiencing today is valid. There's no right or wrong way to grieve or experience your emotions. I want to take a moment to really honor everything we have been through."

"Some things to consider if you are feeling stuck and overwhelmed:- Remember the crisis hotlines are there for support, like the trans lifeline (877) 565-8860-Sometimes when things feel like too much we forget simple self care. Remember the basics like eating and drinking water. It's okay to be gentle with yourself if you fall into "bad habits" in response to stress. You are doing the best you can!- Ideas for expressing feelings: making scribble art and channeling anger/sadness onto the page. Singing along to music that resonates with your feelings. Performing a drag act focused on grief or other emotions alone or with friends."
